A digital eye-opener for this ophthalmology provider, determined to provide the best patient experience and eye care possible.
Newmedica are the UKs leading provider of NHS funded and private ophthalmology services working in partnership with Specsavers, and have a network of eye clinics and surgical centres across England.
the challenge
Newmedica pride themselves on their attentive, patient-first approach, and do everything they can to instil confidence and comfort from the moment a patient walks through the door. The aim of this digital transformation was to further promote this patient-first ethos by creating an experience and communication style that reflects just that.
Our Approach
We were recommended to Newmedica by an existing client and began working with them in early 2022. Our initial collaboration was to deliver various digital solutions throughout their Moulton Park clinic, in places where patients and consultants could benefit from an enhanced digital experience.

After in-depth planning, advice, and an intensive site survey with the construction team during the fit out stage, we began the roll out of the first site in Moulton Park. This involved hardware installation along with the associate infrastructure for four 43” Sony displays, which were installed in patient locations such as theatres, waiting rooms and consultation rooms, as well as a larger 55” display in the admin room of the staff area, to allow the display of call stats and other essential clinic information.

In the consultation rooms, the displays are used to display eye examination results, and walk patients through the findings, reinforcing the importance put on patient care by presenting complicated information in an easily digestible format with large, detailed images as the focal point and helping patients to understand what is happening with their eyes.

In addition to the LCD displays, an EPSON projector was installed in the patient and consultant presentation area, with a motorised function allowing automatic drop-down and recoil when required. The projector can be used for conferencing and presentations through an integrated wireless ClickShare system.
The Outcome
Since the installation of the first site, Pixel and installed and supported clinics in Bristol, Ipswich, Birmingham, Norwich, Plymouth, Worcester, Newcastle and Abingdon, providing our onsite support service package as well as helping guide this eye care specialist in their future digital ambitions.
