Home / Work - NHS

Providing clear communication and wayfinding to staff and patients is a priority for the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) to maintain efficiency, and reduce anxiety or confusion for people as they navigate through and dwell in healthcare facilities.
What we did
For over 15 years, Pixel Inspiration has partnered with several NHS Trusts and NHS Digital, transforming patient and staff communication through tailored, cost-effective digital signage solutions, with a focus on safety and practicality.
From waiting rooms to wards and staff communications displays, we provide secure, low-maintenance solutions designed for a wide range of hospital and healthcare environments.
How we did it
Pixel has rolled out a variety of digital media solutions across NHS sites, including: Salford Royal, Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, Southampton General, South London and Maudsley (SLaM), and Royal Marsden.
Patient communications
Digital displays in critical areas such as A&E, waiting rooms and specialist departments were implemented to keep patients informed about wait times, share important announcements and to provide infotainment to those waiting.
Staff communications
Digital screens located in break areas, work stations and offices keep staff updated with real-time operational and procedural information, helping keep staff informed of key information, especially when they’re not desk-based workers.
Pixel also work closely with NHS Digital to supply staff communication systems that help enhance internal communication.
Interactive wayfinding
Passive and interactive displays are used to aid the wayfinding process at several clients. We have also recently begun work on a mobile phone based interactive wayfinding trial at Leeds Hospital, complete with ‘blue dot’ indoor positioning.
Bespoke solutions
Across several projects in the sector, we’ve needed to develop bespoke furniture and enclosures for display equipment to ensure safety and security of the digital equipment. This includes anti-ligature screen cases for use in mental health facilities to ensure patient safety without compromising functionality. These bespoke solutions are then safely integrated into the hospital environment, maintaining necessary safety standards for patients and staff alike.
