Wagamama
Indoor and Outdoor Digital Signage for this ever-popular restaurant brand
Wagamama opened their first restaurant in London’s Bloomsbury in 1992. inspired by fast-paced, Japanese ramen bars and a celebration of Asian food, they set out to create a unique way of eating. bringing the fresh, nourishing, flavours of Asia to all.
the challenge
The brand approached Pixel in 2017, after a recommendation from a previous engagement. They wanted to bring digital media into their restaurants without sacrificing the existing design aesthetic. Initially focussing on digital window displays, to attract footfall, their brief evolved with each new restaurant opening.
Our Approach
The initial brief for digital windows required us to develop a unique enclosure for the selected ultra high brightness displays. Existing options on the market were deemed to be too cumbersome, so we set about designing a totally new option, which neatly enclosed the display, hiding all of its cable entry points and provided the smallest possible footprint. The enclosure uses wire-hanging supports to provide an almost free-floating effect. This was rolled out across the existing restaurant estate and was used to promote the Wagamama experience, as well as showing the full menu during busy periods.
In subsequent projects, we have provided a range of bespoke solutions including indoor custom LED displays at their Canary Wharf location and outdoor displays at Stevenage, Crawley and Didsbury.
The Outcome
As with the majority of our projects, all of the digital media equipment we’ve supplied and installed is supported remotely and on-site outside of trading hours, for the best possible customer experience. The estate continues to add digital media elements with each store opening, where we work in close collaboration with the fit-out project managers, store design consultancy and on-site contractors.
