Pixel Inspiration was founded in 2004 after the four main Directors (Nikk, Barry, Darren, and Frank) noticed a growing number of digital displays installed in out-of-home locations without any fit-for-purpose content. The company’s initial focus was the design and production of digital content for screen networks. After two years of operation (and no real success), we decided to offer a full service for clients, bringing together hardware, software, content production, and management services for digital signage deployments.
In 2008, we coined the term ‘The Digital Signage Agency’ as our strapline to reflect this approach. We grew very slowly for the first seven years of our existence, from the initial team of 4 to 10 in 2012, due primarily to market immaturity and lack of significant scale. In 2013 we won the contract to deliver the digital network for Argos, and our growth since then has been very fast, even winning 32nd position in the fastest-growing UK companies of 2016.
In 2017 Frank retired from the business, selling his majority shareholding to Bunzl PLC, a retail logistics company. As part of this transaction, we were partnered with MDA, another Bunzl group company, who wanted Pixel to become part of their portfolio of services to retailers. Nikk, who was Technical Director, became the new MD of Pixel, with Barry and Darren continuing in their existing roles.
In 2018 Bunzl sold MDA and Pixel as a joint offer to a French retail logistics company, Staci Group. Staci’s intention was to gain an operational foothold for their retail logistics offer in the UK, to complement their existing operations in the rest of mainland Europe and also expand Pixel operations into Europe.

Company ethos
We built Pixel from a standing start to our current size by putting service to clients before everything else. We know that we’re in a crowded market and the only way to retain clients is to always put their needs first, even if it means going out of our way to do so. This has meant many long days, multi-tasking (the Directors have been known to install and replace a screen or two in their time) and an always on-call culture.
Over the years we’ve been able to employ new staff to, thankfully, spread the load and reduce the pressure on any one individual, but we think it’s really important to retain the small company feel, customer-service-led, pioneering attitude that’s delivered the success we’ve seen so far. It’s why customers recommend us to their peers and why many customers bring us into their new companies when they move.
As we grow, we inevitably will have more structure and process in place, but we will always do our best to allow any staff member to reach their full potential and contribute not only to the day to day operation, but also the ideas and future of the company.
We are great believers in a give-and-take operation and will always try to recognise and reward those who contribute above and beyond the basic requirements of their ‘day-to-day’ job, whether that’s through promotion, investment in training, discretionary bonus payments, time off in lieu or other remuneration. Conversely, we will not accept unreliability of any sort, dishonesty or anything that could place an unfair burden on colleagues or put the reputation or future of our company in danger. In a nutshell - we will support you and your career development if you support us and our clients.
