Tesco, the UK’s largest retailer, needed a reliable, integrated digital signage solution for its tobacco and vape products gantries at over 3,000 locations across the UK.
What we did
Pixel Inspiration provided a hardware and software solution to power custom digital displays procured by another party to provide a new in-store retail media channel in every Tesco format across the UK, including superstores, smaller Express stores and petrol stations.
Alongside the digital media rollout for tobacco, Pixel also provides double-sided 75" screens for placement within Tesco Extra’s F&F clothing areas, working with Tesco’s custom furniture manufacturers, HNY to integrate displays seamlessly into their fixtures.
How we did it
To mitigate store network constraints and ensure reliable software and content updates to each digital end-point, cellular-connected media player devices were installed with consistent specifications for use across any display format.
We used the Dise CMS for content playback, scheduling, support and integration duties, integrated directly via API with Tesco’s retail media booking platform, Sphere. The integration allows all new digital in-store inventory to be used as part of wider retail media campaigns, with occupancy and bookings being centrally managed with the correct format assets automatically being distributed to all gantries and digital signage solutions across the estate.
Several different display aspect ratios were installed across the network, to cater for the different store sizes and fixture formats. Our in-house creative services team produce and reformat large volumes of campaign content, adding that all important motion and ensuring pixel perfect resolution across the various ultra-wide formats and other non-standard aspect ratio screens.

What now?
With more than 3,000 displays live and fully integrated into Tesco’s retail media system, our work for Tesco continues to gain scale. Tesco benefits from our nationwide remote and on-site support service and a fully integrated solution that allows continued expansion of their market-leading in-store retail media presence.
