Home / Work - Booker
Market leading UK foodservice wholesale provider, Booker Wholesale, was looking to embark on their in-store retail media journey, adding a powerful advertising platform designed specifically to reach trade retail customers.
What we did
Pixel Inspiration partnered with retail media business, Dunnhumby, to deliver a new in-store retail media channel across Booker’s national store estate. The project involved the supply, installation and ongoing support of more than 500 Sony Bravia professional display screens across 100 Booker locations during an eight week implementation cycle, creating a fully consistent national retail media network.
Positioned on rack ends, often above palletised merchandise, the screens create a highly visible channel for brands to engage Booker customers throughout the shopping journey.
How we did it
A busy wholesale environment presented a unique set of challenges. Screens needed to be highly visible to shoppers while remaining protected from accidental impacts caused by stock movement, pallet handling, and warehouse operations.
Working closely with Dunnhumby and Booker, Pixel specified a hardware solution based on Sony professional displays to balance visibility, durability and operational efficiency, with a focus on their energy efficiency, image quality and reliability.
To protect the screens without compromising performance, we worked with UNICOL to create a combined mount and protective shroud. This provided the durability required in a demanding cash and carry environment, while maintaining the necessary airflow and ventilation for the technology.
The network is managed through the DISE CMS platform, providing centralised targeting and distribution of campaign content across all locations. In addition, Sony’s Remote Device Manager is utilised to monitor devices remotely, carry out firmware updates and perform maintenance tasks on the Android-based System on Chip media players, increasing the efficiency of operation across the network.
To minimise disruption, installations were completed outside of peak trading hours, allowing stores to continue operating normally throughout the rollout.
